Following a successful career within health (nurse, midwife, leader) I retired in 2020 in order to pursue my other interests. Coaching being right up there.

I first became interested in coaching when it was introduced by my employer, The Royal College of Midwives, as a tool to support staff development. I embraced the development of a coaching culture as it supported and complemented my management and leadership style.

In 2018 I was offered the opportunity to train as a coach. I undertook a Certificate in Professional Coaching Practice with Full Circle Global, an approved International Coaching Federation (ICF) provider. I qualified in March 2019.

The undertaking of the certificate had a huge impact on me. I was amazed at how effective it could be in bringing about understanding, awareness and transformation.

Since that time I have coached a number of clients. All were looking for a change in their lives ranging from increased confidence (dispelling imposter syndrome), seeking promotion, changing career, becoming a more effective leader and introducing balance and wellness into their lives.

I’ve invested in my knowledge and experience as a coach by undertaking further qualifications in team, career and wellness coaching.

I am currently undertaking a Master in Coaching at the University of Warwick.

Coaches in Mind

In 2022, Helen Rogers and I set up Coaches in Mind to support leaders in healthcare to deliver compassionate and dynamic care through the vehicle of coaching. We coach leaders and support them in turn to coach their teams.

Helen and I coach on the Midwifery Leadership Development Programme (MLDG), a joint Welsh Government and RCM initiative.
